single mint mojito

Classic Mint Mojito

A cocktail that celebrates its tropical origins from Cuba. The mint and citrus really complement the rum creating a refreshing summer drink. There are good mojitos and then there are great ones. A top-shelf white rum and fresh lime makes all the difference here.

muddler

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh mint leaves, plus a few more for garnish
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Simple Syrup
  • 1 ½ tablespoons fresh-squeezed lime, about 1/2 of a lime
  • 2 ounces quality white rum
  • 2 ounces club soda or sparkling spring water

Instructions

  • Muddle mint leaves, syrup, and lime juice in a tall glass. Take care to bruise but not shred the mint to release its oils. This can also be accomplished with the back of a spoon to mash the mint a bit in place of a muddler.

  • Add a cup full of crushed ice then add the rum and club soda. Stir and serve with a few mint leaves as garnish.
