Ingredients
- ½ cup all-purpose flour, plus extra for work surface
- ½ +⅛ teaspoon baking powder
- ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon fresh sage , finely chopped
- 1 ½ tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 4 tablespoons buttermilk, plus extra 1 teaspoon, if needed
Instructions
- Heat oven to 450 degrees.
- Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray (if not using nonstick) and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and sage.1/2 cup all-purpose flour1/2 +⅛ teaspoon baking powder1/8 teaspoon baking soda1/8 teaspoon salt1/8 teaspoon sugar1/2 teaspoon fresh sage
- Quickly cut in cold butter until lumps are pea size.1 ½ tablespoons cold unsalted butter
- Sprinkle buttermilk over mixture and lightly combine with a fork until it just holds together and forms a soft dough. If needed, add remaining 1 teaspoon buttermilk.4 tablespoons buttermilk
- Lightly knead dough in bowl 5 or 6 times. Cover and allow to rest 5 min.
- Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of flour on a clean, flat surface. Divide the dough in half. Place dough on flour and gently pat each half into desired shape.
- Place on baking pan and bake until biscuits are golden, about 14 minutes.
