Instructions
Heat oven to 450 degrees.
Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray (if not using nonstick) and set aside.
In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and sage.
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 +⅛ teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon fresh sage
Quickly cut in cold butter until lumps are pea size.
1 ½ tablespoons cold unsalted butter
Sprinkle buttermilk over mixture and lightly combine with a fork until it just holds together and forms a soft dough. If needed, add remaining 1 teaspoon buttermilk.
4 tablespoons buttermilk
Lightly knead dough in bowl 5 or 6 times. Cover and allow to rest 5 min.
Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of flour on a clean, flat surface. Divide the dough in half. Place dough on flour and gently pat each half into desired shape.
Place on baking pan and bake until biscuits are golden, about 14 minutes.
