EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS

baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Ingredients

  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup whole or 2% milk
  • ¼ pound 85% lean ground beef
  • ¼ pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons yellow onion, diced
  • 1 medium egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper, each

Instructions

  • Set oven temperature to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Add bread crumbs to a medium mixing bowl and slowly blend in the milk allowing the breadcrumbs to absorb the liquid. This should sit a few minutes.
    1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
1/4 cup whole or 2% milk
  • To the bread crumb mixture, add the beef, pork, egg, onion, garlic, herbs, cheese and salt and pepper and mix together with your hands until all ingredients are just incorporated.
1/4 pound 85% lean ground beef
    1/4 pound ground pork
    2 tablespoons yellow onion
    1 medium egg
    1 clove garlic
    1/2 teaspoon dried basil
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley
    1/4 cup parmesan cheese
    1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper
  • Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls (just eyeball it) and place on cookie sheet, spacing evenly apart. You should be able to shape 18 or so meatballs depending on the size.
  • Place in middle rack of oven for 10 minutes. Remove and turn meatballs over to brown underside. Return to the oven for and additional 10-12 minutes. If you have a thermometer, internal temp in the middle of meatball should be 165 degrees. We love this digital thermometer.
  • Enjoy these meatballs in your favorite marinara pasta recipe, as a sandwich or simply by themselves with some mozzarella or provolone cheese.
